Obituary of Louise Marian Westerlaken
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Louise Marian Westerlaken, a resident of Chetwynd, British Columbia. Louise passed away at home with her family by her side on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the age of 69 years.
Louise was born to Earl and Josie Smith on Thursday, April 22, 1954, in Penticton, British Columbia. She was raised in Summerland, British Columbia, where she attended MacDonald Elementary School.
Louise had a strong work ethic that carried her through numerous jobs over the years before she ended up at the Home Hardware in Chetwynd, British Columbia, where she eventually retired at the age of 65 years. Louise also loved to contribute to her community through volunteer work. She volunteered at the Pine Valley Country Days for many years and even won an award for her hard work and kindness. When not working or volunteering, Louise enjoyed gardening, sewing, and writing to her pen pal.
Louise is survived by her children Angela, Clayton, Clint (Amanda), Wayne (Jenna), Jaclyn (Petri); grandchildren Matthew, Alissa, Kaitlynn, Dallas, Damion, Maddison, Seth, Trayden, Lilly; sister Leona (Harvey); brother Tom (Karen); sisters-in-law Laverne, Marlene; and brother-in-law Andy.
Louise was predeceased by her husband Gerret Westerlaken; and parents Earl and Josphine Smith.
Louise's family would like to invite you to a Celebration of Life on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at 4:00 pm, at the Chetwynd Fellowship Baptist Church. Pastor Bill Evans will officiate. Interment to follow at Tuscoola Mountain Cemetery, Chetwynd, British Columbia.
