Obituary of Wayne Ralph Parker
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wayne Ralph Parker on Sunday, March 24th, 2024. Wayne passed away at home on the family ranch near Dawson Creek, British Columbia, at the age of 73 years.
Wayne was born in High River, Alberta on Wednesday, April 19, 1950, to Ralph and Doris Parker. He was the youngest of two children. Wayne grew up on the family cattle ranch. After graduating from high school, he began ranching on his own west of High River.
Outside of the long hours spent working on the ranch, Wayne made time to enjoy the outdoors. He loved camping, hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling with his friends. Trapping muskrats paid for his first pickup truck.
Wayne met his wife of 52 years, Marilyn, at a Christmas party in 1971. They were married in the summer of the following year. Wayne and Marilyn had three sons Ron, Wayde, and Clint.
In 1979 Wayne and Marilyn moved their family to Dawson Creek, British Columbia, and continued ranching in the South Dawson area. Wayne felt immediately at home, and the Peace Country became home for the rest of his life. Over the years his passion for hunting turned into a passion for conservation and the ranch became a haven for wildlife.
Wayne’s life was the cattle industry and he pursued it until he passed. He was happiest in the spring when the yearlings would soon be let out on grass for the summer. In addition to running the family ranch, Wayne was a bonded cattle buyer for many years. A lifetime spent in the industry gave him many close friends across western Canada.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife Marilyn; 3 sons Ron (Pam), Wayde (Lana), and Clint; 4 grandchildren Connor, Kahlan, Caston, and Danielle; sister Sandra (Ted) Kinnear; and 2 nephews he was very close to Brent and Mark Kinnear.
With respect to Wayne’s wishes no formal service will be held at this time.
For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Wayne to the SPCA South Peace Branch, 11418 3rd Street, Dawson Creek, BC, V1G 4L5.
Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home and Crematorium
