It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden loss of Douglas Barry Harper. Taken too soon, on November 9, 2023, at the age of 71 years. Doug went to rest at the Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia, due to severe injuries from a vehicular accident.

Doug was born on October 23, 1952, in Drumheller, Alberta to parents Barry and Eileen Harper. He grew up in a family of 5 children. Doug and his family lived in many small towns across Alberta due to his father Barry working for the Bank of Montreal.

Doug started school in Camrose, Alberta and graduated from Lord Beaverbrook High School In Calgary. He went on to study Culinary Arts at SAIT His passion for cooking and feeding people shaped the rest of his life.

Doug’s family were the light of his life. He was a loving father to his 4 children and loved his role as Grampa to his 9 grandchildren.

Doug was truly living his best life; the family find peace in this. Doug was a polite man, a friend to many, who cared strongly for the ones close to him. His favorite pastimes were spending time with his family, enjoying nature, hunting, fishing and cooking. He loved music and always strived for the finer things in life.
