Obituary of Judi Lafond
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Judi Lafond. Judi, a lifelong resident of Dawson Creek, BC, passed away, with her family by her side, on Friday, September 8, 2023, in Dawson Creek, at the age of 78 years.
Judi was the first of four daughters born to Ed and Angie Carberry. She spent her school years at Notre Dame Catholic school and after graduation, moved to Grande Prairie to attend business college.
In 1965, Judi married Jerry Lafond in Dawson Creek, and they relocated to the United States where Jerry played hockey in North Dakota, Rhode Island and Denver. Returning to Dawson Creek in 1970 with their four year old daughter, Tracy, they settled in their hand built home on Aspen Drive. Days prior to move in, Nikki was born. In 1978, Erin joined the family and Judi devoted her life to being an amazing mother. Several years later, Judi joined the office of Kadziolka Smart.
Judi was very involved in so many aspects of her community. She was an active member for decades in Beta Sigma Phi and fulfilled her joy of singing with the Potluck Singers. Judi was a member of the hospital auxiliary at the Dawson Creek Hospital. She was an active member of her church. She added her beautiful voice to the choir and her cooking, cleaning and organizational skills to the CWL. Judi was also a member of KPAC and a generous patron of the arts. Most recently, Judi shared 25 of her years volunteering for the Red Cross.
Judi’s greatest joy, besides a great book, was when she was graciously hosting a group of family or friends, of which she had so many.
Judi is lovingly remembered by her three daughters; Tracy (Dan) Strasky, Nikki (Andrew) Tyrrell, Erin (Ian Kreuzinger) Lafond, Grand kids; Brennan (Lexi), Keaton (Adam), Drayden, Maysen, Avary and Presley, Great grandsons; Beckett and Banks, Sisters; Joan (Dave) Mitchell, Pat (Garry) Radchenko and Peg (Tom) Benoit.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 1:00 PM from Reynars Chapel. Pauline Haycock will officiate. Interment will be at a later date.
