Obituary of Craig Boyd

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ernest Craig Boyd, a lifelong resident of Dawson Creek, British Columbia on Monday, August 7, 2023, at the age of 69 years.

Craig was born in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, on Saturday, August 15, 1953, to Ernest and Agnes Boyd. He was the third of four children. As a small child Craig had nephritis, causing him to spend much of his youth in the hospital. He overcame the illness and enjoyed visiting his mother’s relatives on their farms in the area of Manning, Alberta, and made several trips to stay and visit with his father’s relatives on their farms in the Minnedosa, Manitoba area.

Craig was a countryman who took pride in developing and recreating on his 20-acre property for thirty-five years. He particularly enjoyed camping, sledding, quadding, hunting, fishing, and he was a big fan of NASCAR. He loved dogs throughout his life. Most notably his faithful companion Levi was by his side for the last 15 years.  

Craig worked many years for Astro Paving on projects in Dawson Creek. He worked on the Coquihalla Highway from Kamloops to Hope, BC. He later worked for Stan-Mac Enterprises in Dawson Creek. Craig was a hard worker, and this became even more evident after having a stroke in 2007 that impaired his physical abilities and speech. He continued to live life the way he wanted with independence. Craig was persistent, stubborn, and possessed a great sense of humour. He maintained his acreage until moving back to town in 2021.

Craig is survived by his brother AJ Boyd; sister Lillian V. Yeager; nephews and nieces John Boyd, Leanne Buck (Boyd), Laura Yeager, David Yeager Jr., Julia Marshall (Yeager), Steven Boyd, Kate-Lynn Macchia (Boyd); great nephews and nieces Andrew Boyd, Michael Boyd, Jayden Wied, Jasmine Buck, Travis Buck, and Hunter Marshall; along with four more great nieces and nephews Craig had yet to meet and will sadly miss seeing.

Craig was predeceased by his father Ernest A. Boyd, mother Agnes V. Boyd, and younger brother E. Dale Boyd.

Craig’s family invites you to join them for a Celebration of Life at the Dawson Creek Senior Citizens Hall, on Friday, September 29, 2023, at 2:00pm.
