Obituary of Samuel Royce David McDow
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Samuel Royce David McDow, a longtime resident of Chetwynd, British Columbia. Sam passed away at home in Chetwynd on Friday, August 4, 2023, at the age of 75 years.
Sam was born at the Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital in Kentville, Nova Scotia. He was the oldest son of the late David Samuel and Gertie Jean (Jordan) McDow.
Sam loved to travel and lived in many countries. He loved purchasing, repairing and reselling old cars. Sam enjoyed life every day as it came. He loved his family and good friends, especially the four-legged ones. He will be remembered for his infections laugh, occasional cigar and card playing abilities.
Sam is survived by two sisters, Muriel Smith of Keddy’s Corner, Nova Scotia, and Carolyn McDow of Greenwich, Nova Scotia; several nieces and nephews; life-long friends George and Thelma Gee, Steam Mill and long-term co-worker Robbie Olfon; as well as many extended family and friends.
Sam was predeceased by his sister Charlotte Spencer; brother Richard McDow; and niece Donna Jean Lunn.
A family Celebration of Life will take place in the fall.
