Obituary of Dolores Lorraine Hunder
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dolores "Lorraine" Hunder, resident of Winnipeg, Manitoba (formerly of Dawson Creek, BC), on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the age of 86 years.
Lorraine Hunder (Dolores Lorraine Born) was born on June 28, 1937, in Winkler Manitoba. She was the oldest of the six children of William and Agatha Born. She grew up in Manitoba where she often moved from one small community to another because her father taught in rural schools. She moved to Baytree, Alberta in January of 1957 and then to Dawson Creek in 1970. She married Fred in 1979 and remained in Dawson Creek until 2013 when she moved to Tache care home in Winnipeg, Manitoba to be closer to her siblings.
Lorraine worked as a homemaker and housekeeper until she moved in with Fred. The happiest days of her life were when they spent time camping and fishing at the lakes around Dawson Creek and area. She loved to knit and crochet, so the grandkids were always supplied with slippers and mittens. She also spent many hours writing letters to family and friends.
Lorraine is survived by her sisters Pearl (Henry) Dueck, Gerry Born, Denise Blackwell, Lorna (Art) Kehler, nieces and nephews and their families. Her stepson Leonard Hunder, stepdaughters Carol (Ken) Berg, Susan (Rick) Haugen, Dianne (Daryle) Duncan and their families.
She was predeceased by her husband Fred Hunder; stepson James Hunder; parents, William (Bill) and Agatha Born; brother Jim Born, 2 brothers in-law Frank Orr and Sam Blackwell, and an infant brother Lorne.
A Graveside Service for Lorraine will be held at the Dawson Creek City Cemetery, on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 1:00 pm. Father Vener Sabacan will officiate.
Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium
