Obituary of George Ernest Head
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Ernest Head, a resident of Chetwynd, British Columbia, on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the age of 78 years.
George was born in Edam, Saskatchewan on June 28, 1945, to parents Alan and Mable Head. He was their fourth born and grew up on the family farm. George was always independent and enjoyed doing tasks by himself. He loved visiting all his special aunts and uncles.
George attended school in Langmeade, Saskatchewan from grades 1 to 8 and continued with senior grades 9-12 in Vawn, Saskatchewan. After graduation George enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force (1963). He retired from his military career as a Sergeant after 21 years of service in the town of Cold Lake, Alberta.
In 1984 he followed his passion and started his career in auto mechanics. Head’s Auto Repair Ltd opened its doors in 1988 and served the community until 2006. He then continued to work as a mechanic in a local tire shop until his retirement.
Some of George’s favourite activities included fishing, riding his gold wing motorbike and woodworking. Barbecuing with all of his family was his most favourite times.
George was predeceased by his parents Alan and Mable; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
George is survived by his wife Elaine; children Kelly (Calvin) Berg, Sandra (Ervin) Maxson, and Scott (Penny) Head; grandchildren Breanne, Eric, Tyesha, Karson, Alister, and Patrick; great-grandchildren Dax and Daesyn; brothers Lyle, Bill, and Dale; and his sister Margaret.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 11:00am at the Tuscoola Mountain Cemetery in Chetwynd, British Columbia. Pastor Bill Evans will officiate. Friends are invited to further share this day with George’s family at Kelly & Calvin's home, 5754 Wabi Estates Rd, Chetwynd, BC immediately following the service.
