Obituary of David Comer
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of David Lesley Comer, a longtime resident of Tomslake, British Columbia, on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at the age of 60 years.
David Lesley Comer was born December 23, 1962, in Salida, Colorado. Known as Dave to all who knew and loved him.
Dave moved to Tomslake, in July of 1971 at 7 years old with his family, and lived in Tomslake his entire life afterwards. His days in Colorado and Tomslake shaped him into the man that we all knew and loved.
Dave loved trucks, especially Macks, just like his dad and his sons. Dave loved being behind the wheel – he did not leave a stone unturned in the trucking industry. If it could be pulled behind a truck, Dave did it.
When Dave met Mary, his life changed. He loved Mary. From the beginning of their courtship, Dave knew he wanted to marry her. This past May, Mary and Dave celebrated 40 years together. Dave was a devoted husband and proud father.
Today, there is more emphasis put on who we are and what we accomplish. Dave was the epitome of how great and unselfish it is to put those in your family first. He always put his family first. Whether it was taking one of his kids with him in the truck, driving down to a graduation in the states, or attending every family reunion he could, Dave wanted to be there for his family.
Dave was grateful to spend the last few years in the presence of his friends and family, and witness his family grow further. Although we wish that Dave had more time, we will all keep Dave in our hearts and memories, telling stories about him to each other and to our grandchildren.
Dave is survived by His loving wife Mary; children DJ (Anna), Matthew (Lenore Boudreau), Samantha (Jessie); grandchildren Yulamay, Eloise, Grantley, Isabelle; siblings Debbie (Bill), Pat (Tony), Theresea (Ron); many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Dave was predeceased by his parents Alice and Les Comer; and brother Larry Comer.
A Celebration of Life for David was held on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at 12:00pm at the Tomslake Community Centre, Tomslake, British Columbia.
