Obituary of George Nixon Mounsey

George Nixon Mounsey, a long time resident of Chetwynd, B.C. suddenly passed away on July 11, 2007 in the Dawson Creek & District Hospital, at the age 88. George was born on June 1, 1919 in England to George and Isabella Mounsey, the oldest of 5 children. George grew up in Sunset Prairie, B.C., with his family and then later he moved to Chetwynd, B.C. to make that his home with his good friend and partner, Betty Mickle. George greatly enjoyed a good conversation with his friends and family. Never forgetting to ask how their families were doing and what they were doing. What a caring heart and good memory he had! George also enjoyed watching base ball games on TV, telling a good story and his sweets. He was often seen at gatherings truly enjoying a plate full of desserts. George was a very strong willed man. At 88 years old he still mowed his lawns, snow blowed his driveway in the winter and was often seen shovelling the snow off his roof. You most definitely couldn't inconvenient anyone! George was predeceased by his sister Dorothy, Brother Frank and their parents. George will be sadly missed by his long time partner Betty Mickle, sister Jean Groat, brother Jack, son Steve and his two daughters, sister in-law Ella Mounsey as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. With respect to George's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of George to the Chetwynd Hospital Foundation.
