Obituary of Florence LaVerne Ivor

Florence was born July 14, 1915 in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, to Annie and Harry Wright. She was the third daughter in a family of four sisters, oldest Julia, then Pat then Florence and youngest, Harriet. Florence married Tom Bulmer and they had two daughters, Mavis and LaVerne. Left widowed with the passing of Tom, she met and married Pat Ivor. She was predeceased by both her first and second husbands, her daughters Mavis Huhn and LaVerne Fowler, sons-in-law Art Huhn and Ray Fowler, grandson Darwin Huhn and great grandson Jeffrey Gibos. She leaves to mourn her grandchildren, Kevin Fowler, Rick (Jackie) Fowler, Marty (Lisa) Fowler, Tara (Darrel) Bertram, Clint (Jolene) Fowler, Linda (John) Gibos, Pat (Lianne) Huhn, Arlene (Patrick) Huhn, Corrine (Steven) Burke, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Florence was Gran or Granny to her grandkids, Florence, Flo or Flossie to her friends. To her first husband Tom, she was "Sweetheart" and this became shortened to simply "Hart" by my oldest sister when she was just learning to talk. So for me and my family, Florence Ivor has always been "Aunt Hart". During World War II, Aunt Hart was the only woman to hold a licence to drive a big truck and hauled heavy equipment for the American Army during the construction of the Alaska Hwy. Her truck driving skills also served her well during a stint as a mail carrier, delivering the mail from Hythe to Goodfare. I can remember Aunt Hart holding court in her clerk apron when she worked at the Marshall Wells Hardware store in Fort St. John. Aunt Hart impacted a great many people during her life and most everyone here will hold a different memory of her from their own perspective, based on time they spent with her. Aunt Hart was 92 years old when she passed away peacefully on May, 19th, 2008 in Drumheller, Alberta. She outlived two husbands, all of her sisters and both of her daughters. She's attended funerals for her grandson, great grand son, nieces and nephews and many, many friends. Hundreds of people have passed through her life, some for just brief periods, and others life-long. Florence will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. Eulogy Presented By: Bernadine McPherson A Prayer Service was held on Monday, May 26th, 2008 at 7:00 pm, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Beaverlodge, Alberta. A Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, May 27th, at 2:00 pm, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Fr. David John officiated. Interment followed in the Hythe Cemetery.
