Obituary of Roland Marcel "Rollie" DePrez
Roland Marcel DePrez was born on March 3, 1942 to Philemon & Leone Maria DePrez of Gent Belgium. The family came to Canada in 1954.
After serving in the military, Roland worked in EasternCanada until 1980. He thenmoved to theDawson Creek Area,joining his family, already established in Farming in North Rolla. Roland found his interest in the Grain industry. Seeking employment in this field, an interview was arranged in Fort St. John, where he needed a ride. Roland's sister in law, Pearl,asked her friend to do the honours. A meeting place was agreed upon. Wanda met Roland that summer day in 1980. They never made it to the interview. These two spent their day site seeing and dreaming of the future. Roland was hired at the Alberta Wheat Pool, where he learned all aspects of the Agriculture Industry. He met many farmers in the area during his years at the wheat pool. Roland had a youthful exuberance for life and was well liked by all. Roland continued his relationship with Wanda and they were married July 1985 embracing her family as hisown.
Everyonewho new Rollie knew of his love for life. Rollie enjoyedthe serenity and freedom of the outdoors. His love for nature drew him to theopen field, the babbling brook, the mountain peaksand the pristine lake shore, until he became ill in the spring of 1994. Rollie resided at Peace River Haven in Pouce Coupe, B.C. until his passing on November 10, 2008.
Rollie is survived by his wife Wanda and her family, brothers Raoul & Julien and their families.
A Memorial Service was held on November 15, 2008 at 1:00 pm at Reynars Funeral Chapel. Rev. Phyllis Roch officiated, interment will be held at a later date.
