Obituary of Georgia Elizabeth Ryan
Georgia Elizabeth Ryan was born on July 14, 1946 to William and Katherine Sloane. She was the youngest of seven children; with four sisters; Gertrude, Jean, Mary and Agnes, along with two brothers, Carl and Archie.
She was raised on a homestead in Sunset Prairie where she made many wonderful memories. Georgia spent many hours riding horses and spending time with her dog, Major.
Georgia attended a small country school until she was twelve years old. Her and her sister Agnes traveled to and from this country school by either horse or bike. Upon moving to Progress, she carried on with her elementary schooling until she moved on to secondary school in Dawson Creek.
With her school years behind her, Georgia then worked for her sister Jean at the Progress store. She made many long lasting friends during this time.
Upon relocating to Dawson Creek, Georgia held various jobs from babysitting to waitressing. When she wasn't working her and her friends enjoyed many social events. Of course social events involved sewing and altering many clothes which her sisters were almost always called upon for assistance. It was during this time that she met her soul mate, Danny Ryan. Through mutual friends, Danny came into contact with Georgia and asked his friends, "Who is that blonde?" Georgia and Danny had a very unique and eventful courtship, which set tone for the rest of their lives. They were eventually married on June 1, 1968 and one year later Rocksanne Louise arrived completing their family unit.
Georgia dedicated her life to raising Roxy, caring for Danny and making a home for them all in Progress. Roxy could always count on her mother's attendance and support in her younger years being involved in a wide variety of sports.
Family was an enormous part of her life. Extended family was kept united through her remembrance of birthday's, anniversary's and graduations.
Georgia had a variety of interests and spent many hours gardening, reading, baking, sewing, crafting handmade gifts and playing music with her family.
Georgia gained a loving son-in-law in 1999 when Roxy married Brian Honing. In May 2000 her granddaughter, Kaila arrived and countless hours were devoted to her, baking cookies and doing crafts.
Later in life, Georgia came to know the Lord. Her faith became very real and served her well. Throughout her time of illness, her faith was steadfast, which was an encouragement to the people around her.
Georgia was predeceased by her parents and older brother, Carl. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Danny, Daughter, Roxy, son-in-law, Brian and Granddaughter, Kaila as well as many extended family and friends.
Georgia passed away on March 29, 2009 at the age of 62 years. A Funeral Service was held on April 2, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Peace Mission Chapel, Sunset Prairie. Pastor Lee Stephenson officiated. Interment was held in the Sunset Prairie Cemetery.
Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium, Dawson Creek, B.C.
