Obituary of Donald Trueman

Don went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 26, 2009 at 4:45 a.m. in the Dawson Creek & District Hospital at the age of 63 years old. He was born on December 20, 1945 in Pouce Coupe BC. He was the second child born to Roland and Lily Trueman, brother to Wes, Raymond, Clayton, Carmen and a sister Marlene. He is survived by his children and their family - Jasen (Char) Tyler (Wendy) Shantal (Brice) and grandchildren Ryley, Haley, Christian, and Matt. As a mechanic Don's hands were seldom without grease and oil stains. As a young man a tire blew up and hit him in the forehead but that didn't stop him from working on vehicles. He had a love for mechanics and could be relied on in any kind of weather to help whoever had car problems and knew exactly what it took to fix them. Needless to say his name was well know when it came to vehicle repairs. Don was a dedicated employee and worked for Ron and Debbie Chapman from 1979 -1981 at Manor 66. For many years Don worked for Ken Torgerson and Jack McConnell, however at the end of his employment with Ken and Jack, they remained very close friends. Don waited patiently each Sunday for Ken and Jack to pick him up for church. Don must have kept one eye open checking on Jack and vise versa because they both seemed to know when each other were snoozing instead of listening. On a serious note, Don was very thankful for the close friends that he had. During the many visits Don had with Ken, Jack and Herman Franzen, Don loved to talk about how beautiful heaven was and his mansion in the sky. In 1997 Don had a stroke and was unable to work any longer but through it all he grew stronger in his faith and fought the good fight. He was enjoyed by many in the Rotary Harbour Care Home and was involved in many of the activities throughout the years. He was the jokester with the nurses and was always willing to wear some funny hat or wig showing what a good sport he was. Don was very fond of his boys, Jasen and Tyler and especially proud of "his girl", Shantal. He loved to have them visit and was a great listener, interested in every detail of their lives. His walls were plastered with pictures of his family and in conversation their names were always mentioned and what a wonderful family he had. He enjoyed being at the boys' hockey games when they were younger and if it was all possible for him to attend he would have been one of Ryley's biggest fans! Being at Shantal's grad meant so much to him and he spoke highly of her. His grandchildren and children were so close to his heart and at times his sentimental tears, (called "Angel Kisses" ) were seen dripping down his cheeks. During his last days while on earth Don had his children's mother by his bedside and repeated told her what a good mother she was to his children. Don faithfully prayed for his children and although he will be missed now, there will be a day when the family circle will be together again when we meet at Heaven's gate to be joined for eternity. Don's family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in Dawson Creek Emergency, RN nurses Vanessa and Jacob on second floor medical ward, Pastors Linda and Gordon Warriner, Merle Shuman, Ken Torgerson, Jack McConnell also Ernie Hamre and Coreen Crocker for going the extra mile at Reynar's Funeral Home, Thea Christensen, Daryl Jabs, Donna Jabs, Cheryl Jabs, Bea Rutledge, and the Bethel ladies for preparing the lunch, as well as all who attended Don's service. Your kind words, love and prayers and many thoughtful deeds to our family will forever be remembered.
