Obituary of Bill Baduk
William (Bill) Baduk was born on October 14, 1930 in Rycroft, Alberta to John and Dolly Baduk. While in Rycroft, he attended a little country school in the Greenway District until he was 14 years old, then attended the Rycroft School.
Bill was introduced to his sweetheart Sharon by her sister Carol. Sharon was working for Dawson Creek Cleaners at that time and her mom and dad, Russell and Edna Lever, purchased a home just a few houses down the street for where Bill was living. Bill was such a good looking eligible bachelor, although he was quite shy at the time. We are not sure which neighbour started out the door first each morning, but for Bill, it made any intensions of dating Sharon a bit more convenient just to stop along the street and ask Sharon if she needed a ride to work. The feelings grew stronger for each other; however Bill would never kiss Sharon in front of people, even though Sharon was eager to smooch a little with him. Sharon would try to ease Bill's worry of being seen smooching by saying, "so what, we love each other", but for Bill, kissing in public was just not going to happen! After about a year, Bill proposed to Sharon and on January 28, 1966 they were married in the United Church in Dawson Creek and the kiss was made public for all to witness.
Bill worked for the Alberta Railroad in Rycroft and then ventured on to Dawson Creek working for BC Rail. In 1960, at the age of 30 years old, he began his life long career as an appliance repairman, first for Ralph's Appliances and then for Bings Furniture in Dawson Creek. He was a faithful employee of 49 years, never missing a day of work. Bill would have celebrated 50 years at Bings in September 2009 - even though retirement still was not in his plan. There were appliances to be fixed, and with that in mind, he had full intentions of going back to work once he recovered from a setback he received in October.
Bill was a person that was faithful in all areas in his life- his family, his work and his commitment in the "Singing Sweethearts Band." Bill's music will be a lasting memory to many. Although Bill will be missed here, the angels in heaven have welcomed him to take part in that heavenly band in the sky where he will stand in the presence of the Lord throughout eternity.
Bill is survived by his wife Sharon, his sons; Ricky, Terry, Leslie, daughter; Tammy and 4 grandchildren; Cody, Carmen, Chantal and Charmaine.
A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 2:00 pm from Reynars Funeral Chapel, Rev. Marilyn Carroll officiated. Interment will be held at a later date.
Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium.
