Obituary of Jean Soucy

It is with much sadness we announce the passing of Jean Rose Soucy (nee Bedier) on October 8, 2019. She passed away in Palliative Care at Rotary Manor in Dawson Creek at the age of 79 after a battle with cancer. Born at Cecil Lake, British Columbia, Jean has been a long-time resident of Dawson Creek. She was married to Lorne Soucy, who preceded her in death in 2015. She is sadly missed by her 3 daughters Louise (Rod) Munro, Linda (Gordie) Klimp, Norma (Gary) Kepecz, and daughter-in-law Kim Soucy. She was sister to Ruth, and brothers Don, Ken, Harry and Richard (Karen). She was grandmother to 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. A consummate mother and homemaker, Jean was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She was a collector of cookbooks and would spend hours searching for ideas for her next creation. She loved everything outdoors, camping, gardening, picking berries and going for picnics. More than anything she loved the time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She has left us to reunite with her husband Lorne Soucy, brother Darrel Soucy, and family and friends who have gone before her, and who are surely awaiting her arrival. A private family inurnment has taken place at Brookside Cemetery, and a Celebration of Life will follow in the spring. A special thank you to the home support team, nurses, and caregivers at Rotary Manor, and a very special thank you to Candice Klimp and Kim Soucy for their loving and exceptional care. If you could have spoken before you died, These are the words you would have replied, This life for me has truly passed I have loved you all to the very last, Weep not for me but courage take, Love one another for my sake.
