Obituary of Dwayne Glenn

Dwayne Glenn, a long time resident of Fort St. John, BC, passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side, on Monday, April 13, 2020, in Fort St. John, at the age of 60 years. Dwayne Joseph Glenn was born on March 23, 1960, in Dawson Creek BC and the only son of Sam and Muriel Glenn and brother to Sharan Eckstrom. Dwayne lived his early childhood in Dawson Creek BC and moved with the family to Fort St. John area in 1964 and lived in Annofield. Dwayne attended Robert Oglivie Elementary School for his first two years of education. The family then moved into town in 1968 at which time Dwayne completed his elementary education at Alwin Holland and C.M. Finch elementary Schools. Dwayne then completed his junior and senior high school education at Bert Bowes Junior High School and North Peace Senior High School. As a young boy, Dwayne was always interested in heavy construction equipment and he spent many summers as a boy at the camps with Dad on the construction sites. He would go and ride all day with the operators on the big cats, graders and buggies. Dwaynes interest in the heavy duty equipment led him into a career path with Dad in the construction industry both oilfield and road construction. This experience then furthered his long term career of 27 years with the City of Fort St. John in the public works and water treatment. Dwaynes career finished as road supervisor of public works with City of Fort St. John BC. Dwayne as a young boy loved being outdoors playing with his buddies.. riding bikes, playing ball, playing hide and seek, climbing trees and playing hockey. As years went on Dwayne was always eager to go on a fishing trip or hunting trip with Dad. He also took any opportunity to go to the farm and help Grandma and Grandpa and of course his biggest highlight was to drive the tractor. There was always those berry picking days to where we would fill our pails up with leaves at the bottom so we could go play. Dwayne loved a wide variety of music and was always keen to go to a good music concert. Dwayne love rodeos and it was especially a thrill when he was able to attend the Calgary Stampede with his Dad and his son, Zachary. Dwayne was always very kind hearted and willing to offer a helping hand when needed. Dwayne had great sense of humour and there was always a joke and a story to be told. Dwayne had two children from a previous marriage, Alexis Carmen Glenn (born in 1997) and Zachary Joseph (born in 2000). In August of 2014 Dwayne met the love of his life, Lisa. After 6 months of dating Lisa moved to Fort St. John to be Dwayne. They were married July 14, 2017 and through this union Dwayne was blessed with two adult children Tanya Bell (Chase Cooper), Daniel Schafer (Sharan Negrin) and six grandchildren who fell in love with him instantly. Dwayne went from a father of two to a father of four and Papa to six. Dwayne was diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer Feb 14, 2020 and was taken form us April 13, 2020 with his loving wife by his side. Dwayne was predeceased by his father; Samuel. Dwayne is survived by his wife; Lisa, children; Alexis Glenn, Zachary Glenn, Dan (Sharan) Schafer and Tanya Bell (Chase Cooper), grandchildren; Mattea, Owen, Jaydin, Nash, Cheryl and Grayson, mother; Muriel Glenn, sister; Sharon (Darren) Eckstrom, niece; Stephanie (Costain) Lawless and Rosalie; Nicole (Miguel) Gomez Lopez ,and many friends. A celebration of Dwaynes life will be held at a later date.
