Linda Griffin

Obituary of Linda Lou Griffin

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Linda-Lou Griffin, a longtime resident of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at the age of 65 years.

Linda was the second child of eight siblings born to Walter Howard Griffin and Charlotte Anne Desrosiers in the city of Kingston, Ontario.  She came to find out much later in life that she had an older sister as well as an older brother.  So, that would have made us a family of eleven.  Unfortunately, circumstances prevented us from being raised together.  Linda’s mother was in labor for thirty-six hours on the day that she was born.  In addition, she was a breech birth.

Linda moved out west many years ago and rightly so, she called Dawson Creek her home.  Over the years she met so many wonderful friends and clients from owning the hair salon.  She was truly blessed in our little town.

In Linda’s own words she said…” The worst day of my life will be my last, saying goodbye is not necessary when my spirit will live on through each and everyone that I have come to know and love.  There are no goodbyes for us.  Wherever I am, you will be in my heart.  Through the challenges of pain and suffering, I stand a warrior, no matter what my destiny might be, my soul is in search of peace.”

Linda is predeceased by daughter Phedra McIlroy (Corrigan); her parents Walter Howard Griffin and Charlotte Anne Desrosiers; mother in-law Beryl Hampton; brother Clifford Griffin; nephew Scott Morrow; niece Jamie Lynn Morrow.

Linda is survived by her best friend and soul mate Ed Hampton; sons Tyler McIlroy (Cheryl Daniels), Christopher Cooke (Erica Ferguson); grandchildren Morgan, Kristen, Tanisha, Floyd, Keaton, Miranda, Paige, Phillip; great grandson Austin; brothers Donny Griffin, Paul Griffin; sisters Madeline Bates (Jim), Roxanne Griffin (Bobby Demetro), Dawn Lamke (Billy), Melody Griffin, Patricia Griffin, Jody Morrow (Mike), Joan Griffin; brother in-law Carl Hampton (Melanie); sisters in-law Shirley (Mike Lavioette), Tammy Studley (Dale), Tracy Neil (Cliff); as well as many extended family and friends.

It is with the deepest respect and gratitude that Linda would like to thank the following people: Leslie Joy and Pam Hanna (Oncology Nurses); Dr Wan, Dr Remi, Dr Wright, Dr Boyer, Dr Gullason, Dr Venter, Dr Eeson, and Dr Pilgrim; the Dawson Creek Hospital Emergency staff; Mona McNalley (Dawson Creek Medical Supplies) and Lori Knutson with South Peace Palliative Care Society.

At Linda’s request, no Funeral or Celebration of Life will be held.
