Galena Dorothy Gladue (nee Joachim), was born on November 17th, 1924 in Grande Prairie, AB., she passed away peacefully on February 28th, 2008 at the Hythe Continuing Care Centre at the age of 83 years old. Galena was a long time resident of Kelly Lake, B.C., until the deterioration of her health just over a year ago, at which time she was admitted into the Hythe Continuing Care Centre. Together with Jeudenais, they raised nine children and five grandchildren, following their daughter Shaverna's death in 1979. She leaves behind devoted sons Roy and Robbie Gladue and loving daughters Margaret (Cliff) Calliou, Lorraine (Allan) Braconnier, Ruby (Curtis) Mitchell, and Barbara Gladue. Galena was a kind, loving, soft-spoken, hard working, humorous lady who was well respected by all. She was a very devoted wife, protective of her children and grandchildren. She held a lot of dignity and took pride in the love of her family. Grandma was a good provider and took wonderful care of her home; she surrounded herself in the lives of her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Not only was she a mother, she was very proud of the grandchildren she raised. Although her last years were spent in pain, she would never complain. Both sons were extremely devoted to their mother, Roy who was her constant companion and Robbie who never strayed far from her side. She was loved dearly by all and made a lot of new friends at the Hythe Continuing Care Centre. Any donations can be made to the Hythe Continuing Care Centre. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Centre for taking wonderful care of our beloved Galena. Many thanks to Dr.Crowe, whom she dearly respected.
